Merve Dizdar — Biography
Merve Dizdar is a Turkish actress, born on 25 June 1986 in İzmir.
A graduate of the Theatre Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Dizdar completed a master's degree in advanced acting at Kadir Has University; she began her career on the stage and appeared in many plays, including the Alice musical.
She made her television debut in 2010 with the series Kavak Yelleri and went on to act in series such as Doksanlar, Beş Kardeş and Kertenkele. She won the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actress for her role as Gülben in Masumlar Apartmanı (2020-2022) and made her name with productions such as Eltilerin Savaşı, Kar ve Ayı and Erşan Kuneri.
In 2023 Dizdar was named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as Nuray in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film Kuru Otlar Üstüne, becoming the first Turkish actress to win the award. She went on to appear in the series Ömer, Magarsus and, in 2025, Kral Kaybederse.
