Münir Akça — Biography

Münir Akça, born on 1 January 1951 in Ordu, was a Turkish actor who also worked as a musician and orchestra conductor. He began his artistic career in 1990 at the Ordu Municipal Karadeniz Theatre, later spending many years as both an actor and a director at the Bakırköy Municipal Theatre.

By the time of his death he had appeared in nearly thirty films and series, including İz Peşinde, Sırlar Dünyası, Emret Komutanım, Aşk-ı Memnu, Arka Sokaklar, Mavi Kelebekler and the 2010 film Mahpeyker: Kösem Sultan; his final role came in 2013 in the series Her Şey Yolunda Merkez.

On 27 November 2016 Akça fell down the stairs of his home in Ordu's Altınordu district and was taken to hospital, where he died of a brain hemorrhage. A funeral ceremony was held at the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality's Karadeniz Theatre, where the venue's artistic director remembered him as a devoted artist who had shaped Ordu's culture across years on stage as both actor and director. He was buried at Marango Cemetery in the Perşembe district.
