Neslihan Atagül — Biography

Neslihan Atagül was born on August 20, 1992, in Istanbul, to a mother of Belarusian descent and a father of Circassian descent, and studied at Yeditepe University's Theatre Department. She began her screen career in 2006 as Deniz in the series Yaprak Dökümü; that same year the film İlk Aşk brought her the Promising Young Actress award at the Altın Koza Film Festival.

Her performance as Zehra in Araf (2012) won her Best Actress at the Tokyo International Film Festival. After Fatih Harbiye (2013), she became internationally known as Nihan in Kara Sevda (2015); sold to more than 110 countries, the series became the first Turkish production to win an International Emmy in 2017. She went on to play Nare in Sefirin Kızı (2019) -- a role she had to leave due to health problems -- Macide in Gecenin Ucunda (2022), and Dilara in Aaahh Belinda (2023), and in 2020 launched an online monthly magazine called Hadsiz.

Atagül married her Fatih Harbiye co-star Kadir Doğulu on July 8, 2016, and the couple had a son, Aziz, in 2025. In 2026 she returned to screens after a three-year break with the Ay Yapım series Kaderin Cilvesi.
