Selim Erdoğan — Biography

Selim Erdoğan is an actor who moved from the stage to television and cinema and is best known as Çaycı Abuzer in Çiçek Taksi. He grew up in İzmit and continues to act in series and films.

His interest in acting began while working at the tea stand of a traffic-monitoring office, out of curiosity about the State Theatre downstairs. At the Endüstri Meslek Lisesi he took his first job voicing a monkey in a show, then joined the Kocaeli Regional Theatre. In 1990 he entered the theatre department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory, reportedly the first student from İzmit to do so. At Dormen Theatre he spent two years in Sevgilime Göz Kulak Ol, Komik Para and 2071 Türkiye, starring Demet Akbağ and Rasim Öztekin, and he co-hosted the ATV morning show İyi Günler with Seray Sever.

Çiçek Taksi (1995–2003) brought him to a wide audience. Later he appeared in Fasulye (2000), Head-On and Dayı (2004), Muro (2008), Arka Sokaklar, Adanalı, Ulan İstanbul, Hanım Köylü, Meryem, Ramo, Savaşçı and Annenin Sırrıdır Çocuk. He is also known by the names Abuzer, Zeynel and Dayı.
