Cirkus Columbia

Cirkus Columbia is a 2010 drama-comedy film by Bosnian director Danis Tanović. A co-production of Bosnia and Herzegovina and France, shot in Bosnian and English, it was adapted by Tanović and Ivica Đikić from Đikić's novel of the same name.

The story is set in the Herzegovina region in 1991, after the collapse of the communist system. Divko Buntić returns to his village after twenty years of exile in Germany, bringing a young girlfriend, a new Mercedes, plenty of money and a black cat he believes brings him luck. When the cat disappears, everything spirals out of control, and as war draws closer Divko must decide whether to stay or leave.

The film stars Miki Manojlović, Mira Furlan, Boris Ler and Jelena Stupljanin. It won the Golden Orange for Best Film at the 2010 Antalya Film Festival, screened at the 67th Venice Film Festival, and was Bosnia and Herzegovina's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
