Topsy-Turvy World (Düttürü Dünya) (translated)

Düttürü Dünya is a 1988 Turkish drama film directed by Zeki Ökten and written by Umur Bugay. Produced by Şeref Film and shot in Ankara, it features music by Tarık Öcal and cinematography by Aytekin Çakmakçı. The story follows Mehmet, who lives in a poor shantytown neighborhood of the capital and earns a living playing the clarinet at a nightclub at night; his life becomes even harder when his brother-in-law sells the shanty he lives in to a contractor.

The film brings Kemal Sunal, known primarily as a comedian, together with audiences in an unusually dramatic leading role, alongside Jale Aylanç, Cezmi Baskın, Güzin Çorağan, Selçuk Uluergüven, Orhan Çağman, Birsen Dürülü, Şebnem Gürsoy Talay and İhsan Yüce. Sunal won the Best Actor award at the 1989 Ankara International Film Festival for this performance. The celebrated director Zeki Demirkubuz also worked on the set as Ökten's assistant.
