The Trial (Duruşma) (translated)

Duruşma (The Trial) is a 1999 Turkish comedy film directed by Yalçın Yelence, with screenplay and production by Umur Bugay through Bugay Film.

The story unfolds in an old, modest Istanbul neighborhood. Nazan, the neighborhood's beautiful young woman, has managed to remain a virgin despite having been married twice. This situation sparks a fierce rivalry between Selami and Cavit, two brash local young men who compete for her affection. Meanwhile Nazan's mother Necla schemes behind everyone's back, and the curious neighbors follow each new twist with fascination, until the quarter's quiet life is turned upside down and the affair becomes a media spectacle that eventually reaches the courtroom.

Meltem Cumbul, Güven Kıraç and Zafer Algöz headline the cast, supported by a large ensemble of veteran performers including Rutkay Aziz, Nazlı Tosunoğlu, Güzin Çorağan, Ercan Yazgan and Meral Çetinkaya.
