Le Divorce
Le Divorce is a 2003 French-American romantic comedy-drama directed by James Ivory. Adapted by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and Ivory from Diane Johnson's 1997 novel of the same name, the film was produced by Ismail Merchant. Released in the United States on August 8, 2003 by Fox Searchlight Pictures and in France that October, it received mixed reviews and grossed around $13 million.
The story follows Isabel Walker, an American who travels to Paris to visit her pregnant sister Roxeanne, only to discover that her sister's French husband, the artist Charles-Henri, is leaving her. The unfolding divorce sparks cultural and financial disputes between the two families, while Isabel becomes entangled in an unexpected romance of her own. Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts star, supported by an international ensemble including Thierry Lhermitte and Leslie Caron. Filming took place at such iconic Paris locations as the Café de Flore, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.
