Sweet and Sour
Sweet and Sour (original title: Dragées au poivre) is a 1963 French-Italian comedy directed by Jacques Baratier, who co-wrote the screenplay with the humorist Guy Bedos. Bedos also leads the picture as its star, and the French-language film premiered on 21 December 1963.
The ensemble brings together many celebrated names of French cinema of the period, among them Jean-Paul Belmondo, Anna Karina, Claude Brasseur, Françoise Brion, François Périer, Georges Wilson, Jacques Dufilho, Alexandra Stewart, Francis Blanche, Andréa Parisy and Tsilla Chelton. More than fifty years after its original release, the film was chosen for the Cannes Classics programme at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, a selection that affirmed its standing as a classic French comedy of the 1960s.
