Hazar Ergüçlü — Biography

Turkish Cypriot actress and producer Hazar Ergüçlü was born in northern Nicosia to journalist parents. After finishing high school at Yakın Doğu Koleji, she studied theatre at Haliç University's conservatory while also taking part in youth theatre run by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. Her first professional screen credit came in the 2010 film Gölgeler ve Suretler, directed by Derviş Zaim.

She made her television debut playing Simay in Kuzey Güney, then reached wide recognition as Eylül in Medcezir. She went on to portray Kader in Analar ve Anneler, Cansu in Yüksek Sosyete, the lead in the film Dar Elbise, and Seher in Hayat Sırları; her turn as Müzeyyen in the movie Kar earned her a young-actress prize at the Adana Film Festival. She played Hatice in Ceylan's Ahlat Ağacı, and as Zeynep Erman she held one of the leads on Netflix's Hakan: Muhafız across four seasons. She took the roles of Aslı in Saklı and oncologist Suzan Mayer in Hayat Bugün; as a producer, her film Beni Sevenler Listesi won the Golden Tulip prize at the Istanbul Film Festival. Cast as Dilber in Yılmaz Erdoğan's series İnci Taneleri, she entered Sundance's line-up with Alireza Hatemi's Öldürdüğün Şeyler and, around the same period, appeared at Tribeca with the film Mutter.
