Robert Lamoureux — Biography

Robert Marcel Adolphe Lamoureux was born on 4 January 1920 in Paris and died on 29 October 2011 in Boulogne-Billancourt. A versatile figure of French stage and screen, he was known not only as a performer but also as a director, scriptwriter, playwright and lyricist, appearing in more than thirty productions between 1951 and 1994.

Among his best-known parts was his turn as the famous gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, a picture that was shown at the 7th edition of the Berlin film festival. He also became a familiar face in military comedy fare over his career, and he was decorated with both the knight and officer grades of the Legion of Honour for his work. He was married to fellow performer Magali Vendeuil.
