Melodrama (Melodram) (translated)

Melodrama is a 1988 Turkish film directed and produced by İrfan Tözüm, with a screenplay by Macit Koper. Shot in color on 35 mm, it was made by the Muhteşem Film production company.

The story centers on the stalled marriage of Esra, a writer, and Koray, a painter. Unable to free her husband from his drug addiction, Esra has him hospitalized, then seeks out Behzat, a man she has known since childhood, to learn his true identity and write about her past — but events do not unfold as she expects and a great chaos erupts. The cast features Hülya Avşar as Esra, Macit Koper as Behzat and Yalçın Dümer as the painter Koray, alongside Mehmet Akan, Bülent Oran, Cem Molvan and Muhteşem Tözüm.
