Our Crime Is Being Human (Suçumuz İnsan Olmak) (translated)

Our Crime Is Being Human is a 1986 Turkish film adapted from Oktay Akbal's 1956 novel of the same name, which had already gained popularity as an audio drama broadcast on TRT radio in the "Arkası Yarın" series before reaching the screen. Directed by Erdoğan Tokatlı, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mehmet Aydın, the Varlık Film production was shot in Marmaris, with music by Bora Ayanoğlu and cinematography by Aytekin Çakmakçı.

The story follows Nuri, a weary civil servant and father of two trapped in a stifling marriage, who begins a forbidden relationship with an unhappy young woman after a chance meeting. The age gap and social pressure eventually push both lovers back to their former lives. The 80-minute film stars Kadir İnanır as Nuri, supported by Şebnem Gürsoy, Pınar Avşar, Nilüfer Aydan, Engin İnal and Selçuk Uluergüven.
