The Idol
Directed by Iraj Ghaderi in 1976, the Iranian film The Idol combines thriller and drama elements. Its screenplay is credited to Saeed Motalebi, and Ali Abbasi served as producer; the picture opened in Iranian cinemas in the autumn of that year, in September 1976 by the Gregorian calendar. Behruz Vüsuki and Nasır Melek lead the cast, joined by performers including Hossein Maleki, Amin Amini, Ashraf Kashani, Simin Ghaffari and Geeti Forouhar. Running 97 minutes, the film stands as one of the thriller-leaning dramas that came out of Iranian cinema in the mid-1970s.
