İsmail Düvenci — Biography

İsmail Düvenci was born on 15 November 1947 in the İskenderun district of Hatay. After graduating from the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1966, he spent many years on the theatre stage and also taught, helping train young actors; known for his discipline and stage presence, he became a notable representative of theatre-trained acting. He is married to Zümrüt Düvenci and is the father of actress Ceyda Düvenci.

On television he appeared in Mahallenin Muhtarları (1992), Kurtlar Vadisi (2003), Haziran Gecesi (2004), Binbir Gece (2006) and Parmaklıklar Ardında (2007), before winning wide affection as Zakir, the father of Yasemin, in Umutsuz Ev Kadınları (2011). His biggest breakthrough came as the retired colonel Cevher Güngören in Poyraz Karayel (2015-2017), a role he reprised in the film Poyraz Karayel: Küresel Sermaye. More recently he appeared in Bir Annenin Günahı (2020) and Sipahi (2022), capping a career of more than fifty years in Turkish television and theatre.
