Özgür Çevik — Biography

Özgür Çevik was born in Ankara on 27 May 1981; his father, Zeki, was a soldier and his mother, Nihal, a police officer, and the family's postings took him through Amasya, Lüleburgaz, Bingöl and İzmit. He returned to Istanbul in 1999 to study philosophy at Istanbul University, graduating in 2007. He gained fame through the 2004 talent show Star Academy Turkey and, that same year, reached a wide audience as the Greek son-in-law Niko in Yabancı Damat, the first Turkish series ever exported to Greece.

He released his debut album, Düş-ün-ce, in 2008, then built a long television résumé through Vali, Balkan Düğünü, Sensiz Yaşayamam, Mazi Kalbimde Yaradır, Saklı Kalan and Kiraz Mevsimi before leading Kırgın Çiçekler as Toprak from 2015 to 2018. More recently he has appeared in Yeşilçam, Sen Ben Lenin, İyilik, as Leon in Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu, and as Commander Lucas in Kuruluş Osman.

He married Hatice Kartoğlu in October 2024 after four years together, and currently plays Demir Arıkan in the series Ben Leman.
