The Exiled Cow (Sürgün İnek) (translated)

Sürgün İnek (The Exiled Cow) is a 2013 Turkish comedy film directed by Ayhan Özen, with a screenplay by Serkan Öztürk inspired by a true story. Released on February 28, 2014, it grossed over 1,185,000 Turkish lira in its first week. Hasan Kaçan and Şebnem Sönmez share the leading roles, joined by Bülent Çolak, Fırat Tanış and Ozan Akbaba.

The story is based on a 2009 incident in the Kadiruşağı neighborhood of Malatya's Yeşilyurt district, where a cow that broke a bust of Atatürk in a schoolyard became the subject of an investigation and was exiled to another village; the film links this event to the February 28, 1997 process. The screenplay was developed over roughly two years, and filming took place in July 2013 in the Bozüyük neighborhood of Muğla's Yatağan district.
