Venantino Venantini — Biography

Born on 17 April 1930 in Fabriano, Enrico Venantino Venantini worked as an Italian film actor for more than five decades. He made his screen debut in a small part in Steno's Un giorno in pretura and took his first leading role in Franco Rossi's Odissea Nuda (1961). Over more than 140 films, he worked repeatedly with Italian directors such as Ettore Scola, Dino Risi, and Luciano Salce, and with French filmmakers including Georges Lautner, Gérard Oury, and Claude Lelouch, appearing alongside actors such as Lino Ventura, Yves Montand, Alain Delon, and Gérard Depardieu. He became internationally known for his roles in cult and exploitation cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, and won the Nastro d'Argento for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Dinner (1998). His other credits include Concorde Affaire '79, Black Emanuelle, Erotissimo, and La Cage aux Folles. Venantini died in Viterbo, Italy, on 9 October 2018, at the age of 88.
