Eşref Rüya

Eşref Rüya

TV Series · 2025–2026 · 11 people

Blending action, drama and romance inside the world of organised crime, the Turkish series Eşref Rüya began on Kanal D on 19 March 2025. At its centre is Eşref, who as a child fell for a girl from afar, named her "Rüya" (dream) and spent years looking for her. Along the way he becomes a powerful mafia figure and must reckon with his empire and his own feelings. With 23 million lira spent per episode, it was the most expensive Turkish series of 2025, and its two seasons ended with the 47th episode on 10 June 2026.

Çağatay Ulusoy and Demet Özdemir share the lead roles, joined by Necip Memili, Büşra Develi and Tolga Tekin. Eşref meets Nisan, an idealistic musician, at a wedding held in his hotel; after performing that night she is in grave danger. He falls for her, unaware that she is both the Rüya he has sought for years and a police informant. Love, betrayal and power struggles drive the story.

Uluç Bayraktar directed; Ethem Özışık, Lokman Maral and Ozan Ağaç wrote it, and Tims Productions produced it. The first four episodes went out on YouTube, and from the fifth each one reached Amazon Prime Video in Türkiye a day after its broadcast. Its first episode drew 3 million YouTube views in a day.

Through different eyes

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

Eşref Rüya, with its mix of mafia world, love and betrayal, looks right up my street, and a budget of 23 million lira per episode raises the stakes. The hidden tension between Nisan, who informs for the police, and powerful mafia figure Eşref puts a sense of danger into every scene. Çağatay Ulusoy suits the hard-edged role, too. My only gripe: in some episodes the romantic drama elbows the action aside and the pace drops.

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Eşref Rüya's strongest card is embedding a search that has lasted since childhood inside a mafia story: Eşref doesn't know that Nisan is the Rüya he's been looking for, but the audience does. That setup creates tension carried from episode to episode. The chemistry between Çağatay Ulusoy and Demet Özdemir carries the show, and names like Necip Memili and Tolga Tekin give weight to the side stories. But two seasons and 47 episodes is a long road, and circling the same secret for so long seems to bring on some repetition. Episodes landing on Prime Video the day after broadcast is a real convenience for bingers.

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

Eşref Rüya pushes the production scale of Turkish television: a budget of 23 million lira per episode, a director in Uluç Bayraktar who knows the genre's language, and the experience of Tims Productions. On paper that's an ambitious scale, and the first episode's 23 million YouTube views in twenty days show how big the curiosity was. But the script rarely goes beyond assembling the familiar pieces of mafia melodrama: a childhood love, a hidden identity, a lover who informs. A big budget can polish the image, but it can't hide the familiarity of the dramatic structure. For genre fans it's a strong package; for those after something new, it's more of a well-wrapped formula.
