One Day in Europe

One Day in Europe is a 2005 anthology comedy written and directed by Hannes Stöhr as a German-Spanish co-production. Set on the day of the Champions League final in Moscow between Galatasaray and Deportivo La Coruña, it interweaves separate episodes taking place across Europe, following people from different cultures and social backgrounds over the course of a single day. Through their encounters, the film explores miscommunication, the gaps created by cultural difference and the unexpected bonds that can form despite them, with dialogue in several languages including English, German, Spanish, Turkish and Russian. The film had its world premiere in competition at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Bear, and was later shown in the Istanbul Film Festival. It opened theatrically in Germany in April 2005. The cast includes Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan and Yiğit Özşener.
