Two Young Girls (İki Genç Kız) (translated)

İki Genç Kız, released internationally as 2 Girls, is a 2005 Turkish film written and directed by Kutluğ Ataman, adapted from Perihan Mağden's 2002 novel İki Genç Kızın Romanı. Produced by Gülen Güler Hurley, the film features an original score by the experimental band Replikas, later released in 2006 on the Film Müzikleri album.

The story follows the increasingly intimate yet fragile relationship between two teenage girls from different social classes in Istanbul: the warm and gentle Handan (Vildan Atasever) and the rebellious Behiye (Feride Çetin). Both dissatisfied with their lives, they cling to an escape plan centered on Handan's father, who lives in Australia. Handan's mother Leman (Hülya Avşar), jealous of this friendship, tries to break it up. Staying close to the novel's realism while addressing lesbian themes, the film won awards at numerous national and international festivals, including a Golden Orange.
