Beyk İmanverdi — Biography

Reza Beyk Imanverdi was born on 15 June 1936 in Tehran to a North Azerbaijani father and a South Azerbaijani mother. He went on to become one of Iran's best-known screen actors, also working as a director, producer and writer. As a young man he learned English while employed at the American embassy in Tehran, and in 1958 he joined a theater troupe called "Oscar," which launched his acting career. From the 1960s onward he appeared in dozens of Iranian films and occasionally directed or produced his own projects. During part of his career he also collaborated with Turkish cinema, starring in joint productions such as Şeref Sözü, Silah Arkadaşları, Küçük Ev and Fırtına. He later relocated to the United States and spent his final years there, dying in Arizona on 13 September 2003.
