My Little Sweetheart (Küçük Sevgilim) (translated)

Küçük Sevgilim (My Little Sweetheart) is a 1971 Turkish romantic drama directed by Orhan Elmas and written by Erdoğan Tünaş, a remake of the Indian film Nazrana. Lale (Filiz Akın), a poor final-year medical student, lives with her seamstress sister Nevin. When Dr. Murat Akova (Cüneyt Arkın), a brain surgeon who earned fame in America, arrives to teach at her school, an awkward first encounter turns into love. But when Nevin falls terminally ill and confesses that she too loves Murat, Lale makes a painful sacrifice and persuades Murat to marry her sister instead. Years later, Nevin dies, a devastated Murat vanishes, and Lale's young son is badly injured in a traffic accident. The only man who can save the boy is Murat, who is finally found in an old fisherman's lakeside hut; his successful operation reunites him with his son and with his little sweetheart.
