Vagabond Lover (Serseri Aşık) (translated)

Serseri Aşık is a 1965 Yeşilçam film directed by Ülkü Erakalın from a screenplay by Bülent Oran and produced by Melek Film. At its center is a street performer who scrapes by with puppet shows (Sadri Alışık) and secretly loves a nightclub singer who has lost her voice (Hülya Koçyiğit); she, however, is devoted to Erol (Cüneyt Arkın), the son of a wealthy family whose father opposes the match.

Some later commentary has linked the film's premise to Charlie Chaplin's Limelight (1952). Built around themes of class difference, neighborhood solidarity, and self-sacrifice, the film is also notable for bringing together three of the era's most recognizable Turkish film stars.
