Berlin in Berlin

Berlin in Berlin is a 1993 Turkish-German drama directed by Sinan Çetin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ümit Ünal. Produced by Plato Film and shot largely in German, it was released in Türkiye in 1993 and screened at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival, where Hülya Avşar won the Best Actress award.

The story begins at a Berlin construction site, where foreman Mehmet discovers that the German engineer Thomas has been secretly photographing his wife Dilber. In the ensuing struggle Mehmet dies; burdened with guilt, Thomas goes to the family's home to apologize, only to become trapped there as a protected "guest sent by God" under their traditions. Mehmet's brother Mürtüz waits outside with a gun for Thomas to leave, while Dilber ultimately abandons her family and walks through Berlin at Thomas's side. Hülya Avşar, Cem Özer and Armin Block star, supported by Aliye Rona, Eşref Kolçak, Zafer Ergin and Nilüfer Aydan.
