The Tiger of Berlin (Berlin Kaplanı) (translated)

Berlin Kaplanı is a 2011 Turkish comedy produced by BKM and directed by Hakan Algül, already known for the Eyvah Eyvah series. Written by its leading man Ata Demirer, the film opened in cinemas on 27 January 2012.

The story follows Ayhan Kaplan, who scrapes together a living in Berlin as a boxer and bodyguard. When he and his trainer Cemal sink 50,000 euros into debt, the mounting stress brings on panic attacks, and his doctor advises a change of air. Ayhan heads to Fethiye, where his sister and brother-in-law are secretly trying to sell the pension land he half-owns, and this hidden partnership sets off a string of comic events. The cast also features Tarık Ünlüoğlu, Nihal Yalçın, Cengiz Bozkurt, Orhan Güner and Onur Buldu. A lawsuit filed by singer Ferdi Tayfur claiming rights over the screenplay ended in 2014 with a court ruling in Demirer's favor.
