Jacques Monod — Biography
Jacques Monod was born on 21 August 1918 in Casablanca, then part of the French protectorate of Morocco. One of French cinema's prolific character actors, he appeared in more than one hundred films between 1947 and 1985.
He is best remembered for his roles in François Truffaut's The 400 Blows and Roman Polanski's The Tenant, and throughout his career he was frequently cast as authority figures — judges, prosecutors, and police commissioners. Jacques Monod died in Paris on 25 December 1985.
